Gerard Gallant met with the media following the loss to the Pens and said (NYR, MSG):

• On the game, “I thought we played a great game, worked hard, competed hard, came in here and played a real good team and the game was a toss up. It’s too bad with those two PP goals we gave up late in the second, but overall we played real good hockey.”
• Did you feel like there was any carryover from the playoffs, “No, I didn’t feel it. None at all.”

• Were you happy with the traffic in front of Jarry, “I liked our game, our complete game, thought we played real solid.”
• What did you think of the non-call on Zibanejad at the end, “There should have been a call on somebody. Whether it’s goalie interference for us or a trip for them, you make up your mind. (laugh)
• On the second period penalties, “A little undisciplined, yea.”
