Gerard Gallant met with the media following the loss to St. Louis and said (NYR, MSG):
- On the game, “The power play was good, 2-2 I think it was…It wasn’t a great game, obviously, sort of one of those games where there wasn’t a lot of energy with our group and back to back and the long flight last night. Hate making excuses, anyway, we got through it.”
- Is there a comedown after a game like Wednesday against Tampa, “especially the way the game was last night. Last night was a different type of game, a team we’ve played a lot in the last, well, six game series last year and then the playoffs, but tonight was a sleeper….we’ll get by it and move on and back to back, with everything going on, we’ll take it and leave.”
- Do you want to just get through these last three games, “yea, but you want to play good, too. There were some signs tonight, not enough, but some. We understand, coaches try and push as far as you can, but there wasn’t much in the tank.”
- Did you just roll the seven defense to spread out the ice time, “yep, keep them fresh. Like I said, there wasn’t much in the tank.”
- On Tarasenko and Mikkola getting good receptions from the crowd, “well deserved, they won a Cup here and, Vladi, for a long, long time. He seemed pretty excited with it and pretty happy on the bench.”
