5/31/23 | The Rangers have traded 2021 third round pick, 65th overall, Jayden Grubbe to Edmonton for a fifth round pick in the 2023 draft.

Grubbe, a center, had 19 goals and 49 assists in 64 game for Red Deer this season and 2 goals and 14 assists in 12 playoff games.

The Rangers let other teams know in April that they weren’t going to be signing Grubbe by the June 1 deadline. (Seravalli)

Grubbe was the second player, after Brennan Othmann, that was drafted in Chris Drury’s first draft as GM.

Adam Rotter: I’m not sure why the Rangers opted against signing someone they took 65th overall, but at least they were able to get a fifth-round pick back rather than lose him for nothing.
