- Except for the PP not converting, this was another very strong game for the Rangers and one they should have won by a lot more than 2.
- For around 57 minutes or so the Devils looked like a mess and the Rangers, like on Saturday, were basically in control of the whole game. The game never should have been as close as it was because the Rangers should have had 3-4 other goals, including one that was called back for offisde where Alexis Lafreniere made a phenomenal pass to Artemi Panarin. The Devils best player was their goaltender, something that maybe hasn’t been said once this season, and he was able to keep the Rangers at bay despite the fact that they were the far better team.
- Mika Zibanejad scored his first 5-on-5 goal of 2024 and you just gotta hope that this gets him going again.
- This was another game where we saw the good and bad with Matt Rempe and it all happened in just a couple of minutes in real time. He won a faceoff and screened the goalie on the second goal and then he threw out an elbow, got 5 and a game and likely a suspension. Prior to that he was having another solid game, one where he again looked potentially like someone who could take regular shifts in big games. But then he throws that hit/elbow and you see the areas where his game still needs to improve.
- Tomorrow is the big one against Carolina. The Rangers will stay in first place regardless of the outcome, but this will be a great test for the Rangers against a charging Carolina team that they will likely have to go through if they want to go far in the playoffs.
