The Rangers have announced that they have signed Louis Domingue to a one-year extension.
This season for Hartford:
Domginue: 24 games: 13-7-4 with a 2.65 GAA and a .910 save percentage
Dylan Garand: 29 games: 16-8-4, 2.66 GAA and .910 save percentage
From the Rangers:
- Domingue, 32, has appeared in 24 games for the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season, notching a 13-7-4 record, 2.65 goals-against average and .910 save percentage. The St-Hyacinthe, Quebec native made one start for the Blueshirts this season, stopping 25-of-26 shots in a win against Minnesota on November 9.
Domingue,32, is in the second-year of a two-year deal. It is a one-way contract worth $775,000. (Stephenson)
Adam Rotter: When the Rangers signed Jonathan Quick last summer I expected that he would play one-year and that Louis Domingue would then get re-signed to be Igor Shesterkin’s backup. But the Rangers just extended Quick and when they did that I figured that it would likely mean that Dylan Garand would be the number one in Hartford and that Domingue would go somewhere else next season. I guess the Rangers like the Domingue and Garand combination and with no guarantee of an NHL job this summer, Domingue takes a one-year, one-way contract that will pay him $775,000 no matter where he plays. He’s a nice veteran to have as a third option and he made a nice business deal for himself to lock-in a one-way contract.
