Carrick, 32, averaged 9:15 per game, with three blocked shots, 31 hits and a 53.3% faceoff percentage in 10 games for the Oilers this playoffs.
He is finishing up a two-year deal at $850,000 per season.
He had 10 goals in 77 combined regular season games between the Ducks and then the Oilers, averaging 12:37 per game for Anaheim and then 10:41 for the Oilers.
Carrick played in three games against LA, two against Vancouver, 4 against Dallas and once against Florida in the playoffs.
He averaged 2:40 on the PK for Anaheim this past season and 53 seconds for the Oilers in the regular season and 33 seconds in the playoffs.
Prior to this season the most time he saw per game on the PK was 50 seconds.
Adam Rotter: He’s a fourth-liner/depth player that will likely try to fill a lot of Barclay Goodrow’s role on the fourth line and PK. It’s a cheap contract and one that the Rangers can bury in Hartford if Carrick doesn’t work or gets beaten out over the course of the deal. You need depth and that is what Carrick is.
