10/24 | The Rangers have placed Chad Ruhwedel on waivers. (Friedman)
Ruhwedel played last Saturday against Toronto. He played in five games for the Rangers last season after being acquired but did not play in the playoffs.
He’s on a one-year deal worth $775,000.
Adam Rotter: This would seem to indicate that Victor Mancini is sticking around and that Zac Jones will likely be the seventh defenseman. They could lose Ruhwedel on waivers as teams like Utah deal with injuries on defense, but otherwise Ruhwedel would likely go to Hartford and be depth and a veteran presence down there. There is probably a better chance of Ruhwedel clearing waivers than Zac Jones and the Rangers are probably more okay with losing Ruhwedel for potentially nothing than losing Jones for nothing.
Jimmy Vesey is skating and likely going to come off of LTIR soon, which will also likely precipitate Matt Rempe probably going to Hartford, and the Rangers need to get the salary cap in order so that they can start accruing cap space for the trade deadline.
