- So much for the good feeling coming out of Saturday’s win.
- Right off the hop the Devils were the faster, better team and the Rangers were both literally and figuratively chasing Jersey around. Defensively the Rangers just continue to be a mess and the Devils took advantage all night.
- The team is going to go nowhere, except the bottom of the division, if they can’t find a way to shore things up defensively, especially if Igor Shesterkin isn’t going to stop every single shot…..and he’s not. There just needs to be a much bigger commitment to playing defense and backchecking and there just isn’t.
- The Rangers just continue to dig themselves into a hole early in games.
- With the Rangers next game not until Friday you do have to wonder if there will be any changes or if something will look different the next time they take the ice. I don’t imagine that the status quo will remain that way for much longer.
- They don’t have a ton of flexibility to make moves and when you can’t fire the players you usually end up firing the coach. I’m not sure Chris Drury wants to fire another coach but that may be his only outlet. Maybe Peter Laviolette buys some more time by benching someone, Jacob Trouba or K’Andre MIller, to send a message but I’m not sure how effective that would be as the mentions of Trouba and Chris Kreider last week as potential trade pieces certainly hasn’t shaken things up or brought the team together.
