6/10/25 | 10:57PM: Seravalli writes that the Rangers are likely going to acquire 2023 second round pick Carey Terrance in exchange for Kreider. The Ducks are expected to acquire Kreider’s cap hit in full.
Kreider would be reunited in Anaheim with three other members of the Rangers 2021-22 Eastern Conference Finals team in Jacob Trouba, Ryan Strome and Frank Vatrano.
Seravalli writes that Kreider is believed to have interest in playing for new Ducks coach Joel Quenneville and in reuniting with his former teammates.
10:15PM: Frank Seravalli tweets that the Rangers are in “advanced discussions” with the Ducks about a deal that would send Chris Kreider to Anaheim.
He notes that there is no deal at the moment but there is a potential framework for a deal.
The Rangers sent Jacob Trouba to the Ducks for Urho Vaakanainen and a fourth round pick.
The Ducks have close to $39 million in cap space.
Adam Rotter: 10:15PM: We’ll see if this comes to pass, but it could be the first step for the Rangers as they continue to try and remake themselves. Anaheim needs to add salary to eventually reach the cap floor and the Rangers are looking to shed salary so it wouldn’t be a shock if the Rangers are just getting a pick or two or a prospect in return.
If the Rangers are able to move Kreider and not retain salary then it could open the door to re-signing K’Andre Miller unless the Rangers are committed to moving him as they reshape things.
10:57PM: Much like the Jacob Trouba trade to Anaheim, the focus is not as much on the return as much as it is in both clearing the cap space, clearing the roster spot and, seemingly, clearing his space out of the locker room. The Rangers want change and whether that is the right move or not, nothing signifies more change for the Rangers than clearing out their longest tenured player.
