The Rangers have signed the following players since Free Agency started on July 1: RFA Brendan Brisson and UFA forwards Justin Dowlng, Trey Fix-Wolansky and defenseman Derrick Pouliot.

Brisson was acquired by the Rangers from Vegas with a third round pick, that they traded to Vancouver for Carson Soucy, for Reilly Smith.

He had six points in 16 games for Hartford last season and 108 points in 178 career AHL games. He has two goals and six assists in 24 career NHL games for Vegas.

He was the 29th overall pick in 2020 by Vegas.

He signed a one-year, two-way contract that would pay him $775,000 in the NHL.

Fix-Wolansky, 26, is 5-7, 193 points and has 359 points and 254 penalty minutes in 289 career AHL games.

He has 191 points in 184 AHL games over the last three seasons. He has 4 goals and 2 assists in 26 career NHL games

He signed a one-year deal that pays him $775,000 in the NHL and $450,000 in the AHL.

Pouliot, 31, had 53 points in 70 AHL games last season, 46 in 64 AHL games in 23-24 and has 8 goals and 46 assists in 226 career NHL games.

Pouliot signed a two-year deal that pays him $775,000 in the NHL and $400,000 in the AHL.

Dowling, 34, has 9 goals and 17 assists in 152 career NHL games. He’s 5-10, 180 and played in 52 games for New Jersey last season and had two goals and five assists and had no points in five playoff games.

He signed a two-year deal that is a one-way contract in the first year and pays him $775,000 no matter where he plays and $775,000 in the NHL for the second year but $450,000 in the AHL in the second year.

Adam Rotter: Brisson is an interesting player to watch in training camp since the Rangers have an open spot on the third line at center and he should get a chance. He’s yet to establish himself as an NHLer full time but he has offensive ability and definitely a worthwhile player for the Rangers to have added in exchange for someone in Reilly Smith who wasn’t going to return. He may just be an NHLer but there could be a spot for him in the NHL.

Fix-Wolansky and Dowling are depth players that seem to have slightly different roles. Fix-Wolansky is someone the Rangers are likely looking to have them lead Hartford in scoring and to try and bring more success to Hartford. Dowling could be a 13th forward type of bottom-six player but could also be in Hartford as a veteran player that helps some of the younger Rangers.

Pouliot was once one of the top prospects in hockey and always talked about in rumors as the Penguins were having success. He, again, is likely just depth at this point and an AHLer that the Rangers may have to go 8-9-10 deep before he gets some games.
