The Rangers have signed veteran forward Conor Sheary to a PTO. (NY Post)

Sheary,33, played four years in Pittsburgh, and won two Stanley Cups, with Mike Sullivan.

He played in five NHL games last season for Tampa while scoring 20 goals and 41 assists for Syracuse in the AHL. He had four goals and 11 assists for Tampa in 23-24.

Adam Rotter: It’s a PTO so there is no commitment but he has experience with Sullivan and the Rangers do have at least one spot on the third line that could be up for grabs. That spot should go to Brennan Othmann, Brett Berard or depending on where MIka Zibanejad goes, Gabriel Perreault. He’d be a nice choice as a leader, veteran and possible call up from Hartford, but if he ends up playing a lot of time for the Rangers than hopefully he’s turned back the clock and producing offensively like he hasn’t in a couple of years.
