Stats:

Adam Rotter:
- Another comeback for the Rangers after another slow start but they were unable to complete the comeback with a win like they did on Sunday.
- You’d love to see them play like they did in the third period for more of the game but not quitting when down 4-0 in a lost season does, hopefully, set some sort of standard to move forward with.
- While losses will continue and benefit the Rangers draft position, if they find themselves winning games because guys like Gabe Perreault are producing then it’s worth it. Perreault, along with Mika Zibanejad’s rebound season and to some degree Noah Laba, may be the biggest takeaway from this year. It’s still early and he’s still young, but he looks like he might be a player. He’s asserting himself more offensively and should only continue to get better as the rest of the season goes on.
- I expected, unless he had been traded, that Vincent Trocheck was going to play today because the Rangers don’t need to trade him by Friday. They could take the risk that he got hurt, possibly still traded him, or held him until the offseason. But it would seem very unlikely that Trocheck will play Thursday against the Leafs, just hours before the actual deadline. He may be traded by Thursday, but if he isn’t and things are trending towards a trade by the next afternoon then he’ll sit just to make sure.
- It’s the Leafs on Thursday and we’ll see what kind of roster they dress either from guys being held out for trade reasons or replacements for the guys who have been traded.
