Stats:

Adam Rotter:

  • As much as losing and getting a better chance in the lottery matters, wins like this where guys like Will Cuylle, Alexis Lafreniere, and even Jaro Chmelar, lead the way are just as important. The Rangers have players they are going to move forward with and if they are the ones leading them to wins then it’s worth it
  • We’ve seen it before and been teased before, but Alexis Lafreniere has been playing well lately, going back to before the Olympic break. All we can hope for is a strong end to the season for him and that would hopefully end any speculation about his future. I think it would be best if he was with Mika Zibanejad and Gabe Perreault consistently. He needs to be with offensive players and if Vincent Trocheck does get traded, and at least until JT Miller returns from injury, those are really the only other two offensive players.
  • It was only one rush and one goal but Jaro Chmelar should be in the lineup every game the rest of the season. That may be needed depending on who gets moved, but why not give him an extended run to end the season to see if he might be someone they can move forward with.
  • Adam Edstrom’s return was nice to see and as long as he’s healthy he should also be back consistently.
  • It’s a nice win, especially at home where they have been so dreadful, against a team in Toronto that was equally as disappointing this season and possibly in the same position of needing a retool that the Rangers are. And, again, even better since it was guys like Alexis Lafreniere and Will Cuylle helped lead the way.
  • The deadline is tomorrow and then they see the Devils on Saturday.
