Stats:

Adam Rotter:
- It was a pretty close and competitive team from two teams that aren’t going to the playoffs and showed often why.
- The biggest difference was that the Devils had two PP goals and their best players led them and the Rangers went 0-4 on the PP and their top guys, other than an assist from Vincent Trocheck, were held off the scoresheet.
- They had chances that they didn’t bury, but Alexis Lafreniere, Mika Zibanejad and Gabe Perreault are showing some chemistry. That has to be the line the rest of the season and if Mike Sullivan is going to coach every game to win and shorten his bench, Lafreniere and Perreault will benefit from more ice time.
- Vincent Trocheck showed no issue coming back into the lineup after not being traded. He played like Vincent Trocheck, had an assist, was good on faceoffs and showed why Chris Drury held a high price for him.
- I love Will Cuylle in front of the net and with deflection goals in back to back games. With his size, and hopefully developing deflection skills, he should be the long-term answer to the front of the net on the PP. He is much more natural there than either the rotating Lafreniere and Perreault who should be in more playmaking positions.
- The Flyers on Monday.
