Stats:

Adam Rotter:

  • While the Rangers still have three games and a week left in the season, the home schedule that doomed this season ended tonight.
  • They finish 14-20-7 at MSG and while the last few weeks have been good at MSG, the first few months of the season where the Rangers couldn’t score and couldn’t win at home sucked all the energy out of this team. There were other issues and injuries that also hurt the season, but their inability to build any momentum at MSG was a major factor in why the Rangers are where they are.
  • For two periods tonight the Rangers were matching the Sabres and had the lead but Buffalo went up a couple of notches in the third, the Rangers only had one shot and ultimately lost.
  • It was another strong game for the PP and another game where Alexis Lafreniere was front and center offensively. He has remained effective, productive and pretty consistent since Artemi Panarin was traded and you just hope that he has found the way to succeed in the NHL and the Rangers have a core player locked up.
  • The Rangers head to the road to finish up the season as they see Dallas on Saturday, Florida on Monday and Tampa next Wednesday to end this season.
