Stats:

Adam Rotter:

  • This was a game that meant an awful lot to Detroit and behind Jonathan Quick and Gabe Perreault the Rangers picked up the win.
  • Perreault has 25 points in 44 games and 17 in his last 20 games. His game had dipped a bit after he, Mika Zibanejad and Alexis Lafreniere exploded for those few games, but he showed today the kind of player he can be. He makes things happen and certainly looks like a real building block for the Rangers.
  • It was a great game from Jonathan Quick and it’s a shame that he wasn’t able to pick up the shutout, the second time in the last week or so that the Rangers were on the verge of a shutout before losing it. I’d expect he’ll get another start, possibly Wednesday in the home finale. That could be his send off and allow Dylan Garand to get another start. It’s possible that Garand won’t get another start but I think he should and with three games left after Wednesday, why not give one of them to Garand.
  • Even with the win they stay locked into fourth place and have a four point cushion to fifth. Finishing 4th would mean the Rangers would pick 1 if they win the lottery, 2 if they win the second lottery, 4 if the teams ahead of them win both lotteries,  5 if a team below them wins one of the lotteries and 6 if two teams below them won the lottery.
  • They play the Caps tomorrow.
