Stats:

Adam Rotter:
- This was probably the Rangers most impressive win of the season so far. It was another total team effort, Dylan Garand was good again and Alexis Lafreniere stayed red hot with two goals in the first period.
- This was a real test. Tampa had been playing well, they probably wanted revenge after the Rangers beat them earlier in the year and saw Igor Shesterkin score against them and the Rangers just played well and beat them. Everyone was physical, everyone was engaged and the Rangers played a style and structure that pretty much had them in control all night.
- The Tye Kartye, JT Miller, Alexis Lafreniere line continues to be really good. Kartye doesn’t look out of place next to Miller and Lafreniere and that line is producing through two games together.
- The fourth line didn’t play much and Matt Rempe had a fight but only one shift in the second and one shift in the third. Cole Beudoin had one shift in the second and two in the third and both he and Rempe were under four minutes. Oliver Bjorkstand played a bit more and then started to take some shifts instead of Pavel Dorofeyev. I’d expect Jaro Chmelar to be back against the Devils,
- Dorofeyev had two shots, two giveaways, started on PP1 and was then taken off PP1 and missed a few shifts in the third when Bjorkstrand took his spot. I think he’ll ultimately stay in his spot with Mika Zibanejad and Gabe Perreault and I’d expect that he’ll start every game on PP1 but Mike Sullivan has shown that he isn’t afraid to make a quick change and put Perreault in that spot.
- It’s a really solid win and the Rangers are now 6-2 overall and 5-0 at MSG. It’s still a small sample size but they are playing a way that seems sustainable. Hopefully they can keep it up.
- They visit the Devils on Thursday and Columbus on Saturday before returning to MSG a week from today against Anaheim.
