The Rangers have ended James Reimer’s AHL PTO and signed him to a one-year NHL contract.

They sent down Spencer Martin and Matthew Robertson.

Reimer had a 35-save shutout on Friday in his only AHL appearance.

Adam Rotter: I figured that Dylan Garand would start tomorrow and the Rangers would give Reimer one more start in the AHL before signing him since the Rangers were off for nearly a week. Instead they opted to sign Reimer and either start him tomorrow against LA or at least to get him practicing with the team for that week. In hindsight it probably makes more sense to have him up with the team and practicing rather than just one more AHL start. I don’t think you can rule out playing him tomorrow and giving Garand a full week off to rest, recover and practice.
