Stats:

Adam Rotter:
- There are elements of aspects of how the Rangers played tonight that were better than the last few games but the result of chasing nearly all game and a loss remained the same.
- The Rangers definitely got better as the game went on and had a lot more structure but Conor McDavid blitzed them with a terrific rush 50 seconds in and then the second goal is just one that Dylan Garand needs to have. This could have gotten ugly but a third Edmonton goal was overturned and the Rangers then started to play better.
- The Rangers never got close in this game and couldn’t get more than the one goal even though the Oilers were starting someone who hadn’t played in the NHL since April 2024. While there are no moral victories, this was a step in the right direction in terms of their structure and physicality, but the Rangers aren’t going anywhere if they continue to chase the game. They don’t have enough offensive talent nor an offensive system or style to play from behind.
- Scott Morrow came in for an injured Sean Durzi and was noticeable and active. He made the most of what may be his only opportunity if the Rangers are healthy on the right side.
- The Blues come to MSG on Tuesday.
