Stats:

Adam Rotter:

  • This was a really good performance and win by the Rangers. Top to bottom it was another really strong performance at home by the Rangers. The score ends up making it seem relatively close but once the second period started the Rangers took it to the Ducks.
  • Despite not scoring, Pavel Dorofeyev had a very active game, an assist, 5 shots on goal and 10 attempts overall. He’s close and when he starts to score it’s likely to come in bunches.
  • It shows how deep the Rangers are that Oliver Bjorkstrand can’t get above the fourth line. He was signed to play on the second line but Tye Kartye has been great with JT Miller on the second line and the third line of Will Cuylle, Eeli Tolvanan and Noah Laba is always buzzing. So that leaves Bjorkstrand on the fourth line for now.
  • The Rangers brought in 37-year old center Luke Glendening on a PTO to practice and see if he is worth signing to fill the fourth line center spot until Joe Veleno comes back. Glendening is a veteran, very good on faceoffs and can likely fill some of the PK role that Veleno had and possibly play a bigger role than they have Justin Dowling playing. They haven’t officially signed him yet but they’ll get to see looks over the next week or so before they need to make a decision.
  • It stinks that Dylan Garand gave up those two late goals because he was really good again and probably deserved another shutout.
  • It was a really good win as the Rangers are now 6-0 at MSG to start the season. Hopefully they can figure things out and start to score a bit more as they head on the road to Toronto on Thursday and Ottawa on Saturday before Peter Laviolette, and Artemi Panarin, return to MSG next Monday.
