6/30/26 | Darren Dreger said on TSN that Dylan Larkin and Vincent Trocheck are “linked” and that if Larkin gets traded “Vinny Trocheck most likely will be not that far behind. I know a number of teams that have expressed interest in Trocheck have circled back. To this point Dylan Larkin has not been willing to expand his no-trade list and it’s a limited list as we know and that puts the Red Wings in a real bind. They know what they need to replace the talent of Dylan Larkin, they can’t go backwards in a deal like this. If a deal doesn’t materialize and Larkin doesn’t expand his limited no-trade list then the Red Wings are expecting Larkin to show up in training camp and I don’t think that would be best case scenario for the player or the team. Maybe Trocheck and the Rangers will pull the trigger sooner rather than later, but these two veteran centers are linked in some capacity.”
6/29/26: Elliotte Friedman said on 32 Thoughts that he has heard that the Rangers continue to have a “very high” price for Vincent Trocheck, possibly higher than what they were asking for at the trade deadline.
He also wondered if acquiring Pavel Dorofeyev might make the Rangers reconsider trading Trocheck.
It was reported last week that the Rangers may be looking for a first round pick and prospect for Trocheck.
Right after the trade deadline it was reported that the Rangers were looking for a first round pick, a young player and top prospect.
Trocheck’s 12-team no-trade list becomes 10 teams on Wednesday.
Adam Rotter: I’m hopeful that this gets resolved soon but part of me wonders if this is going to be something that lingers until closer to training camp. It’s not just about waiting out a Dylan Larkin trade, other teams interested in Trocheck are likely also involved in or saving their assets until they get involved in trades for Connor Hellebuyck, Zach Werenski and Jason Robertston, among others that may or may not have been reported on. Teams need centers for sure, but if you are Buffalo, for example, you likely aren’t trading any of the assets the Rangers want for Trocheck until you know whether you can get Hellebuyck. Same with Werenski and Robertson and obviously Larkin. Trocheck is a good player, but Werenski is a franchise-type defensemen and Robertson and Larkin are legit top-line players. Robertson is an RFA and the only one with some immediacy to his situation. Larkin, Hellebuyck and Weresnki, or Kirill Marchenko in Columbus, could all still be with their teams come training camp. They are all under contract and while they may want to move, their teams are likely to hold very high prices and that may keep Trocheck in a bit of limbo.
Chris Drury is reportedly telling teams that he’ll continue to hang on to Trocheck if his price isn’t met and while that may be awkward, the best version of the Rangers next season does likely include Trocheck. But holding on to Trocheck only prolongs this process and runs the risk of injury sinking his value. If the focus remains getting younger and/or adding in younger assets then Trocheck is still their best avenue to do that. I think ultimately he’ll get moved but much like the other players, Drury can hold a hard line until he either gets what he wants or close to it.
