The Rangers sent qualifying offers and retained the rights to the following RFAs (Baugh):
- Braden Schneider, Pavel Dorofeyev, Vincent Iorio, Scott Morrow and William Trudeau
Dorofeyev is expected to sign a seven-year deal worth $11 million per season.
The Rangers did not send qualifying offers to the following players who will now be free agents:
- Hugo Ollas, Talyn Boyko, Brendan Brisson and Massimo Rizzo (Baugh):
It was announced when Rizzo was acquired for Adam Edstrom that he wouldn’t be qualified.
Brisson played in three games for the Rangers last season and had one assist. He had 19 goals and 18 assists in 66 games for Hartford.
Adam Rotter: I’m a little surprised on Brisson just because he’s still young but the Rangers have either seen enough and want to move on or they are granting him the chance to get a fresh start somewhere else. He was passed on the depth chart and there are a bunch of prospects just coming into Hartford this season so maybe they were also just opening up a spot for them.
