Stats:

Adam Rotter:

  • It’s hard not to get excited about how the last three games have gone after how last season went and long stretches of the season before. It’s still early but the Rangers seem like they are building a foundation and style of play. There seems to be a buy-in from everyone of being engaged, grinding, being physical and working to score goals.
  • No foundation is complete without your goalie and Igor Shesterkin looks phenomenal and he picked up another point.
  • I’ve thought that Alexis Lafreniere has looked better each game and tonight he looked a lot like the player the Rangers need him to be. He was all over the ice, making plays, drawing penalties, getting chances but unfortunately hitting posts. He did pick up an assist on Gabe Perreault’s goal but if he plays like this then it’s only a matter of time for him to pick up points.
  • I bet Vincent Trocheck was watching this game and wondering where this effort, style and buy-in was last season. Trocheck would fit well on this team but Sean Durzi has been great so far and Cole Beaudoin had three points last night.
  • Joe Veleno was injured early and with so the Rangers will need to call up a center. Options are limited and Justin Dowling would probably be the likely choice if the Rangers want to let Beudoin continue to get used to pro hockey in Hartford.
  • There is just a good feeling with this team right now, something that you can’t say last season and while the Rangers started hot two seasons ago, before crumbling, that was a lot of smoke and mirrors. This may also fade, but if the Rangers can stick with this style/foundation they will have a chance to win every night.
  • The Rangers play the Isles on Tuesday.
