Flyers hire John Tortorella as Head Coach

The Flyers announced that they have hired former Rangers Head Coach John Tortorella to be their new Head Coach.

The Flyers fired former Rangers Head Coach Alain Vigneault earlier this season.

Tortorella had been on ESPN this past season after finishing up his time as coach with Columbus.

Tortorella last followed Vigneault as Head Coach when the two swapped places after Tortorella was fired by the Rangers and Vigneault was fired in Vancouver.

What Kaapo Kakko said about his season, being scratched and motivation for next year

While speaking on Monday, before he returned to Finland, Kaapo Kakko said that he is trying to take his scratch in Game Six as motivation for next season and to show that he is a “good player” that should be in the lineup. (NYR)

He said that he doesn’t think that his scratch in Game Six will impact his future as an RFA. (NYR)

Arthur Staple writes in The Athletic that Jacob Trouba was “about to be named Captain” prior to this past season and then someone “above” Gerard Gallant decided to go with the six alternate Captains.

Jessica Campbell will be a coach during Rangers development camp

The Rangers have announced that Jessica Campbell will join the team as a coach for development camp later this summer.

Campbell has worked with NHLers Tyson Jost, Joel Edmundson, Damon Severson and Luke Schenn.

With Germany at the 2022 Worlds she worked with Detroit’s Moritz Seider.

What Ryan Strome said about his injury and his future

Ryan Strome said on Monday that he had been dealing with a lower-body injury during the second half of the season and it “got worse the last two rounds.” (NYR)

He said he was dealing with a pelvis injury and that he would find out on Tuesday if he needed surgery. (NYR)

Strome said “I was just dealing with, like, a  pelvis injury, my whole pelvis, which makes both groins and your abs. I felt like I was playing with a knife in my abs for the last little while” (NYR)
