Alexis Lafreniere scratched against Philly

8:27 PM: Keith Jones and Kenny Albert said on TNT that Lafreniere is not injured and that Gerard Gallant said that Lafreniere has played 72 games this season and sitting tonight is a little bit of a “reset” for him.”

6:50 PM: Alexis Lafreniere will be a scratch tonight against the Flyers. (MSG):

Vitali Kravtsov won’t join the Rangers for the playoffs

6:30 PM: Brooks writes that the Rangers have been “pleased” with Kravtsov’s “progress” this season and that he has been in “regular communication” with Chris Drury throughout the season. (NY Post)
4:42 PM: Larry Brooks tweets that Vitali Kravtsov will not join the Rangers for the playoffs and will instead begin his offseason training in Russia.

Brooks adds that “the plan” is for Kravtsov to come to NY early in the summer to get a “head start” on training camp. (Brooks)

What Gerard Gallant said after the loss to Carolina

Gerard Gallant met with the media following the loss to Carolina and said (MSG, NYR):

  • On the first two periods, “the first was real good, like real good, and then the second, to be honest with you, I thought they won those 1-on-1 battles, I thought we played too much time in our d-zone, and they sort of took the momentum away from us, that was the biggest thing for me and then they get that early goal in the third period. I was really happy with the first and then the second, I thought they won too many battles in our zone, we played too much time down there.”
