  • Since the game was played in a non-NHL arena there are no official stats

Adam Rotter:

  • That was certainly a preseason game that had a non-preseason feel to it.
  • The two biggest takeaways are tied together in Ryan Strome and Filip Chytil. Strome was looking good, had the two points and then collided with Mayfield and left the game. That allowed Filip Chytil to get some more ice time and he took advantage of it with two goals in the third and the OT winner. If Strome has to miss any time then Chytil will get thrust into the top-six center role that the Rangers hope he can eventually take. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction that Chytil looked like he was taking before he got hurt and then got Covid last year.
  • Kaapo Kakko had another strong game and was all over the ice.
  • So that does it for the preseason. Next up is final cuts and the Rangers getting down to their opening night lineup and then finding out which player will end up with the “C” on his jersey. The regular season is here….
