10/29/21 | 8:31 PM: Gerard Gallant spoke after practice and said some of the following (NYR):

  • Is Kakko in tomorrow, “hopefully, pretty sure, but that is not 100%. We got through today and the medical staff will let me know in the morning. He looked good.”
  • Ryan Reaves is “doubtful” for tomorrow.

  • On Lafreniere with Chytil and Blais, “We are definitely considering it. I think on the road trip you saw they played really well together, with Laffy down there. If things are going perfect, you keep your four lines rolling, that’s the best news for a coach. But, last game wasn’t good, I think Laffy, Chytil and Blaiser had real good success on the road in a couple of those games, so we might go back with that. Not sure, today, for sure, Kreids wasn’t there, but we will see. That is the thing about what is going with making lines up all the time, until game day you really don’t know.”
  • Does it spread the scoring out with Laffy down there, “if you look at the balance, definitely, there is no doubt. He enjoyed the few games he played down there with those guys, he enjoys playing who whoever he wants, he’s an easy going kid, he just wants to play well. He gets disappointed when he doesn’t have a good game, he talked about that, he was on himself harder than we were, for sure.”
  • What does that say about Lafreniere, “I think he’s 19-years old, I don’t know if he turned 20 yet. He’s played in the NHL for one year, a tough year with Covid, 56 games, so if you really look at it he’s still probably a rookie in this league. He’s a young kid and didn’t have a normal start to his NHL career, it’s not easy. I wasn’t in the league last year, but I heard lots of stories of how things were ran and you couldn’t leave you hotel room, that is tough on those kids. If you look at it, it’s like a rookie year for him this year.”
  • Do you see his maturity, From day one of camp, he’s an easy going kid, fun loving kid, he works hard in practice, conditioning is really good this year, it’s just a matter of time. He played pretty well in certain games, in other games he was a little inconsistent, but that is our team, not just Laffy.”

11:42AM: Chris Kreider (maintenance) and Ryan Reaves (lower body) are not practicing today. (NYR)
