6:42PM: Asked about Shesterkin before the game, Gallant said (NYR):
- Has the level of concern changed with Shesterkin, “no, not at all, no.”
- Is there a concern it could be longer than three games, “no. I mean, who knows? But we feel real comfortable that he will be able to go in a week.”
- Is losing Shesterkin bigger than other injuries, “no, I mean, he’s played a lot of good games for us. We plan on it being seven days and then he’s back to go. Rest won’t hurt him, Georgie has played really well, we are looking forward to him going back in the net tonight. It’s not a concern, we are going to play, every team loses players and star players and that is part of it. We think it’s a week and he’ll be back and ready to go. Georgie did a great job last night and now he gets an opportunity, I think it works out fine for us.”
6:04 PM: Gerard Gallant said that the Rangers feel “real comfortable” that Shesterkin will be “ready to go in a week.” (NYR)
2:40 PM: The Rangers have placed Igor Shesterkin on the injured reserve. (NYR)
Being put on IR means that Shesterkin will be out for at least seven days.
Shesterkin will miss at least tonight’s game against Chicago, Tuesday against Chicago and Wednesday against Colorado. He might be eligible to return next Friday against Buffalo depending on if his placement on IR is retroactive to yesterday. If his placement on IR is today then he will be eligible to return 12/12 against Nashville.
