The Rangers have announced that Jonny Brodzinski has signed a two-year contract extension.
Brodzinski, 28, is in his second-year in the Rangers organization and has signed one-year deals the past two seasons.
He has one goal in ten games for the Rangers over the past two seasons, but had 17 points in 14 games for Hartford last year and 18 goals and 21 assists in 36 games for Hartford this season.
Brodzinski had goals in nine straight games for Hartford earlier this season.
He has been Hartford’s captain this season.
Adam Rotter: Okay. Brodzinski is nothing more than a depth piece and call up player for the Rangers, but Chris Drury and Kris Knoblauch must view him as a big part of the team and culture they are trying to create in Hartford. It’s a no-brainer move for Brodzinski as it gives him stability and he won’t have to fish around this summer for a new team and new contract. All this really means for the Rangers is that he continues to take up one of their 50 roster slots and that they will know for sure that they will have a veteran that they trust in Hartford.
