Darren Dreger said on TSN that the Rangers aren’t worried about the backup goalie situation and “they’ll find a goaltender in the unrestricted free agent market.”

In the NY Post, Larry Brooks wrote that the Rangers next backup goalie could be from a pool of pending UFAs that include the Flyers Martin Jones, Detroits Thomas Greiss, Vancouver’s Jaroslav Halak, Dallas’ Braden Holtby and Ryan Lindgren’s brother Charlie.

Lindgren has 29 games of NHL experience and spent this season as the starting goalie for St. Louis’ AHL team.

Brooks says that the Rangers had “serious interest” in Martin Jones before he signed in Philly last season. (NY Post)

He says that the Rangers next backup goalie would “ideally” sign for somewhere between $1.25 and $1.5 million. (NY Post)

Adam Rotter: The nice story would be uniting the Lindgren brothers, but I think the Rangers need an established goalie to backup Shesterkin. They need someone they can trust to win games and pick up points when Shesterkin is sitting or if he gets hurt. I think Jones makes sense and I like the idea of Holtby since he has won a Stanley Cup. The Rangers have certainly seen their fare share of Holtby with Washington and a lot of Greiss and Halak from their time with the Islanders. They should have some decent, experienced options that Benoit Allaire can hopefully rejuvenate to a degree.
