Rangers Director of Player Development Jed Ortmeyer said that Othmann “definitely has the ability,” as a “pure scorer” with an “elite shot,” to be a player with a style similar to Winnipeg’s Kyle Connor. He adds that Othmann’s “compete and battle for pucks” is a style similar to Florida’s Matthew Tkachuk. (NHL.com)
Dan Rosen said that Kravtsov, while working out in New York, spoke with Gerard Gallant and Gallant told him that the Rangers want him as a “top player” and that he is “talented” and “skilled enough” to be one. (NHL.com)
Ortmeyer told Rosen that both Lundkvist and Jones were able to take on bigger/different roles in Hartford last season than they would have in and that in their roles in the NHL they need to make sure that they are “limiting their mistakes and their risk plays.” (NHL.com)
