Gerard Gallant met with the media following the win over LA and said (NYR/MSG):

• On the start, “I thought the first ten was slow for us, obviously, being down 2-0, but after that I thought we played pretty well, just be a little bit more competitive on pucks, stay with our game and obviously the first goal was huge for us to get back in the hockey game.”

• On scoring from the bottom-six, “They work hard, get rewarded and I thought everybody played great tonight, they played their roles real well, I thought we were really, really good in the second period, that was a big difference us and the game continued for us. It’s back-t0-back games where I was pretty excited the way we played.”
• How important is tomorrow to get 7 of 8 points, “I’ll enjoy tonight first, but tomorrow is obviously big. Get ready to play that game and hopefully finish off the road trip on the right note.”
• On Kaapo Kakko, “he played real good, that line was real good for us tonight. He had some great opportunities to score and it will go if you keep working hard and getting those chances, they’ll go in the back of the net for him.”
• On it being a hard fought game, “It was, exactly, definitely satisfying. Being down 2-0 is a little scary ten minutes into the hockey game, especially on the road, but I thought we battled back in the second half of the first period and that was key for our group.”
• On Shesterkin, “he was pretty good (smile), he made some big saves for us, there is no doubt, and definitely made some huge saves for us and that is what he does for our team. He gives us a chance to win when we are down and not playing our best.”
