2022-23 Rangers Regular Season, Patrick Kane

The latest on Patrick Kane, the cap and the Rangers on Sunday

9 PM: Braden Schneider has been sent to Hartford. (NYR)

6:03 PM: Miller could potentially be suspended after picking up a match penalty and ejection for spitting. If he is suspended for Wednesday’s game then the Rangers, after sending down Braden Schneider for Monday and Tuesday and calling him back up on Thursday, could call up another defenseman for Wednesday, send him down on Thursday, and then acquire Kane. 5:37 PM: Despite being dressed, Carpenter and Braden Schneider have not taken a shift so far and are likely not going to. Those two will likely be sent to Hartford following the game so that the Rangers can accrue more cap space. (MSG)

Those moves would allow the Rangers to add Kane on Wednesday. (Puck Pedia)

3PM: CapFriendly says that if Carpenter is sent down tomorrow that the Rangers could add Kane on Wednesday. (Brooks)

2:47 PM: The Rangers sent Leschyshyn down, but called Ryan Carpenter up.

Puck Pedia says that with that move the earliest the Rangers can acquire Kane, without any subsequent roster moves, is Thursday.

2:09 PM: The Rangers could keep Leschyshyn on the roster for today’s game, send him down tomorrow, call someone up for Wednesday’s game, send that player down on Thursday and then fit Kane in on Thursday or Friday. (Puck Pedia)

2:04 PM: Leschyshyn has cleared waivers.

1:45 PM: Puck Pedia says that if Leschyshyn is sent down today then the Rangers can make the trade on Wednesday. He adds that if the Rangers send Leschyshyn down today, but don’t make the trade on Wednesday than the Rangers could call up a player for Wednesday’s game, send that player down on Thursday and still make the trade for Kane on Thursday or Friday.

1:21 PM: Chris Johnston says that “indications remain positive” with Kane and the Rangers, but the deal “likely” won’t be “executed” before Wednesday and it may not be done until closer to the actual deadline on Friday. (Johnston)
