7/5/23 | The NHLPA announced that defenseman Brandon Scanlin has filed for arbitration.
Scanlin signed with the Rangers in March 2022 and has spent the last two seasons in Hartford.

In 76 AHL games over the past two seasons, Scanlin had four goals and 12 assists.
This past season he had four goals and 11 assists, a plus 21 rating, 30 PIM and 73 shots in 61 games.
He had one assist in Hartford’s nine playoff games.
Adam Rotter: Scanlin filing for arbitration does open up a second buyout window for the Rangers three days after Scanlin eventually signs a new contract, but the buyout window only applies to players making $4 million or more. Barclay Goodrow’s cap hit is $3.6 million and there are no real options of players to buyout at $4 million or above, so that buyout window probably isn’t going to be used.
I’m not entirely sure why Scanlin filed for arbitration as he hasn’t had a chance to play in the NHL, but ultimately he’ll sign a cheap deal and come to training camp and compete for a spot.
