Adam Rotter:
- This was a really good, strong win by the Rangers.
- They weren’t able to finish throughout most of the game, but they didn’t get frustrated, they just getting chances and firing pucks and eventually K’Andre Miller converted a beautiful pass from Mika Zibanejad and Jimmy Vesey knocked his rebound out of the air and into the net and another two points.
- I felt they were the better team through most of the game and they were only losing because of two rough shifts back to back. They weren’t perfect, they turned pucks over, missed the net on some big chances, and missed a few wide-open nets/tap-ins, but they were mostly playing the right way and if they continued to generate chances you felt like the game could turn their way, and it did.
- Igor Shesterkin was very strong in net, especially in the last few minutes.
- Jimmy Vesey continues to impress. Maybe it’s the lower expectations that come with him signing a very cheap contract and being in the bottom-six, but he just continues to excel in his role and come up with big plays. I thought he was going to get moved up to the third line with Kaapo Kakko out, but Peter Laviolette kept that strong fourth line together and Vesey came up big again.
- Alexis Lafreniere just continues to make more and more plays. He got off to the hot start scoring goals and he still has more goals than assists, but the confidence he has making plays and passes is off the charts right now. He isn’t getting rewarded every night with points, but he’s making numerous plays night after night to continues his progression.
- Adam Fox returned tonight and that was great to see.
- Next up is Nashville on Saturday afternoon and then a quick turnaround on Sunday evening against the Sharks.
