Stats:
Adam Rotter:
- They found a way to win this one.
- The Rangers weren’t bad, but the Avs were the better team and certainly turned it up in the third period. But they got a couple of nice bounces to go their way and the big saves from Igor Shesterkin.
- Shesterkin was terrific, but especially in the third period and OT.
- Whether they are actual injuries or just bumps and bruises, the Rangers defense has been getting crushed lately. At different points tonight they were without Chad Ruhwedel, K’Andre MIller, and Adam Fox. Ruhwedel and Miller returned while Fox’s injury seemed more like something that was still being worked on as the game was closing down. Jacob Trouba is close and Ryan Lindgren somehow returned tonight from that horrible-looking injury, but Erik Gustafsson missed another game. The Rangers depth on defense is being tested. Zac Jones has been really good and Braden Schneider and K’Andre Miller have been good as a pair, but all these things piling up over the past couple of weeks is concerning.
- Next up is Arizona on Saturday.
