The Rangers have sent Gabe Perreault and Scott Morrow to Hartford.

Morrow had 1 goal, 1 assist, a minus two rating and six shots on goal in five preseason games.

Perreault had two goals and two assists, a plus two rating and seven shots on goal in five preseason games.

Adam Rotter: This is the right move and also starts to explain, in the case of Morrow, that Braden Schneider will be on the third pair to start the season and not shifting over to the left side. Morrow showed off some of his offensive skill and potential in the preseason but he still needs a lot of work defensively and he should get to play top-minutes in Hartford. He’s only played in one pro season and the Rangers don’t need to rush him.

With Perreault, it’s another case of not needing to rush him. I doubt he’ll be down in Hartford the whole season but he’ll get to play top minutes and continue to adjust to the pro game. The Rangers also don’t have the top-six spot for him right now and I think he’s better off getting time in Hartford than playing on the third line. They seem to want to see if Conor Sheary really has anything left in the tank and if the Rangers are healthy in the top-six then it’s better to take it slow with Perreault to start the year.
