Stats:

Adam Rotter:

  • Another game where you can’t help but be excited about what Alexis Lafreniere, Mika Zibanejad and Gabe Perreault are putting together. The Flames stink and are in the middle of their rebuild, but what that line did last night to Philly and tonight against Calgary is what good players/lines do no matter who the opponent is. Winnipeg and Minnesota will be good tests in the next two games to show they can do this against better teams.
  • Again, there is going to be some level of hesitation with Lafreniere until he performs/produces this way consistently. We’ve seen this before, but it feels different this time. Maybe it’s because he doesn’t feel he has to defer to Artemi Panarin, maybe it’s because it’s just easy chemistry with Mika and Perreault, but whatever the reason, Lafreniere is producing/executing and putting away any idea of a trade.
  • Perreault isn’t just nifty with the puck, he’s winning battles and isn’t afraid to kind of be a little physical.
  • Jonathan Quick has had a tough season after being thrust into being the starter and playing a lot more than expected, but this was a nice performance for him.
  • It’s a nice win and it’s good for them to have these moments, especially at home with how dreadful they have been at MSG this season.
  • They head to Winnipeg on Thursday.
