Stats:

Adam Rotter:

  • The Rangers were sloppier tonight than they were last night but they were able to overcome all of that because Henrik Lundqvist was outstanding. He played like someone hell-bent on showing he can still play at a high level. How many of the 31 games the Rangers have remaining will depend on how he performs, how the other performs and whether Alex Georgiev is still here, but if he plays like he did tonight he will get his opportunities.
  • Mika Zibanejad was also terrific and had another complete performance that would seem to further cement the “C” ending up on his jersey at some point.
  • Overall the Rangers did what they were supposed to do this weekend and sweep the Red Wings but they didn’t always look great doing it. They were good for about 50 minutes last night and had some good stretches tonight but they ultimately picked up two points because of Henrik Lundqvist.
