Stats:

Adam Rotter:

  • Well the Rangers found a way to lose tonight and I think they got what they deserved. They took way too many penalties and while the special teams were excellent, they just didn’t play well enough overall. Their 5 on 5 play was not good enough and they only come away with one of two points.
  • They don’t have the puck enough, they don’t sustain pressure when they did and they can’t keep relying on their goalie and doing just enough to win.
  • Igor Shesterkin was excellent again and so was Demko for Vancouver. Shesterkin was tested a lot more than Demko, but Demko made a few really big saves when the Rangers were on the PP late. It was another game where Shesterkin was the Rangers best player and that has been the theme of this season so far.
  • They got goals from their two bests forwards, Fox had two assists, they were winning by two heading into the third and their goalie was playing great. It’s a game where the Rangers weren’t good enough overall, but they were in a position to win and they should have. It would have been another find a way to win game, but that would have been better than blowing a lead in the third and then dropping the game in OT.
  • Next up is a trip to Alberta where the Rangers will get crushed if they parade to the box against the Oilers like they did tonight and a rematch with a Calgary team that beat them badly last week.
