  • It wasn’t necessarily too little too late for the Rangers, but more that they seemed to run out of time in the third period to tie it. The Leafs were the better team through two periods, but the Rangers brought it in the third and had more than a few chances where it seemed like they were going to tie it…but Jack Campbell was there and then the clock struck zeroes.
  • In some ways it evens out after Igor Shesterkin stole those two points the last time they were in Toronto.
  • While the Rangers weren’t great, offensively at least, in the first two periods they were in the game, it was close and a bounce could have turned it. It was a game where the Rangers may have only been good for 20 minutes, but they weren’t bad for 40 minutes like we saw earlier in the year. It’s a loss and it ends the winning streak, but I think it’s another step for this team as they look to truly move beyond the issues that plagued them early in the year.
  • Faceoffs were a major issue as Julien Gauthier and Jacob Trouba’s five shots each were almost as many faceoff wins as the team had, 9, overall. Ryan Strome had more hits, 3, than faceoffs won, 1,.
  • This was supposed to be another back to back weekend, but Saturday in Ottawa was postponed, so next up is Buffalo coming to MSG on Sunday and then the Rangers play two of the following three against the Islanders with a trip to Boston in-between.
