  • They found a way to win this one and close out the five-game road trip with a 3-2 record.
  • It was tied for most of it and pretty even for stretches, but this is a game that a good team finds a way. It helps that the Flyers are going nowhere and usually find a way to give games away, but the Rangers played well enough to win, especially in the last game of a long road trip.
  • They understandably looked tired and seemed content to play this one to overtime or a shootout, but the Flyers took the lead and the Rangers dug down to tie and then take the lead and win.
  • It’s going to be interesting to see where Filip Chytil slots in when Alexis Lafreniere and Barclay Goodrow return, likely, against the Leafs on Wednesday. I’m guessing that Goodrow goes back to the right of Artemi Panarin and Ryan Strome and that Filip Chytil will return to the middle of the third line with Lafreniere and, probably, Julien Gauthier. Are those the best spots for them or should the Rangers give Filip Chytil a good stretch on the right side? Goodrow can go to the middle of the third line or go back to the fourth line and I’d like to see if Chytil can fill a top-six role on the wing. Chytil’s future with the Rangers is very much up in the air and the Rangers need to know him he can tap into more of his offensive ability as a winger or if they just want to keep trying him at center and hoping it finally clicks.
  • I really think the Rangers need to keep Mika Zibanejad in that one-timer spot on the PP. It’s hard to move Artemi Panarin from there as he, and Adam Fox, drive the offense from there, but the PP just seems like much more of a threat when Zibanejad is there to shoot.
  • The Rangers are off until Wednesday when the Leafs come to MSG and then next Friday they will finally face off against the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes are right there in the standings with the Rangers, with four games in hand, and they are probably the best team in the division. It will be a nice test to see them match up with the Hurricanes and their crew (Derek Stepan, Jesper Fast, Brendan Smith, Tony DeAngelo, Antti Raanta and Brady Skjei) of former Rangers.
