Gerard Gallant met with the media following the loss to the Leafs and said (NYR):
Did you think you were too passive when Toronto pushed, “I didn’t think that at all, honestly, I didn’t. They are a good team, talented and when you are losing 2-1 you are going to push. They made a good play and attacked and got a goal, but I liked our game and thought we played real well in a tough building with a real good team against us. I want the two points, but we’ll take the one and run.”

What did you think of the effort from start to finish, “excellent. Real good, we had to kill off three penalties in the first two periods and did a good job with that against a great PP and I loved the way the Kids played, obviously. Fil’s line was outstanding and his goals, it was a good game, everybody came ready to play and if you are going to get points out of Toronto you gotta be ready to play and I thought we did.”
Is that Faceoff goal something you have worked on, “I’ve never worked on it (laugh), he did it all by himself.”
How many of those have you seen in your career, “I’ve seen a few, not a whole lot, but a few, definitely.”
What did you like about The Kid Line, “they managed the puck real good in the offensive zone. They didn’t throw it to the slots and turn it over, they kept resetting it behind the net and cycling the puck and then when they had a chance they took advantage of the ice.”
Do you think the other top-six guys are still searching for chemistry, “No, I liked…they played good. I liked the way they played. Again, it was a pretty good game and I think if you look at their top six guys, they had some chances, too, but it wasn’t like they dominated our top guys. Our top guys were good, they played a good, solid game.”
