With the Devils win over Buffalo, the Rangers are now locked into third place in the Metro.
Both Carolina and New Jersey won tonight, so as of now the Hurricanes still lead the Metro by one point and the Rangers would face the Devils in the first round.
New Jersey faces Washington in their last game of the season and Carolina faces Florida.
