Adam Rotter:
- This felt a lot more like a playoff game than Game 1 did. It was more physical, more tightly contested and came down to the end. The Caps were better tonight and I’d expect them to continue to push as the series moves to Washington.
- The Rangers worked for this win. They were battling, they responded well to the first two Washington goals and defended well enough after the Caps cut it to one. They are going to need to win more games like this going forward.
- It was a special teams game with both teams getting two on the PP and K’Andre Miller’s game-winner coming shorthanded.
- Mika Zibanejad was excellent tonight, as was Vincent Trocheck who scored, had an assist, five hits and was dominant on faceoffs.
