Barclay Goodrow has been claimed off of waivers by the Sharks.
His entire cap hit of $3,641,667 million for the next three seasons comes off the Rangers books.

Adam Rotter: This is really a tremendous gift for the Rangers by Mike Grier and the Sharks. They will miss Goodrow’s role as a leader, fourth-liner, and playoff performer, but adding another $3.64 million in cap space is huge as the Rangers try to improve for next season.
It’s not ideal for Goodrow who was likely hoping for a buyout and the chance to possibly re-join Tampa Bay or another contender. Instead, he goes from the Presidents Trophy winners to the team with the #1 pick in next week’s draft. It’s also believed, though not confirmed, that San Jose was on his 15-team no-trade list. Being put on waivers circumvents that.
Goodrow did what he was brought to the Rangers to do. He provided leadership and was a reliable two-way bottom-six forward, but he was just paid too much. His replacement on the fourth line will likely cost a third of his cap hit. Chris Drury signed Goodrow to this contract and he was able to get out from under it with no other asset loss or dead cap hit. Goodrow served his purpose in helping the Rangers return to the playoffs and make a couple of deep runs, but the roster spot and $3.64 million in cap space have a higher value to the team right now than he does.
