JT Miller and Vincent Trocheck have both been named to Team USA for next month’s Olympics.
It was revealed earlier in the week that Adam Fox would not be on Team USA.
Chris Kreider, who played for Team USA at the 4 Nations last year, did not make Team USA.
Adam Rotter: This was expected and again reinforces that JT Miller will be back sooner than later from his injury. He’s skating in a non-contact jersey now an with the Olympics starting up in about a month, I’d expect that he is back with the Rangers within the next couple of weeks. While a big honor for both Trocheck and Miller, the Ranger slim playoff hopes would probably be better served with both of them not playing for Team USA or at least not playing in big roles. Miller has been banged up since the end of training camp and while he looked like he was starting to come on right before he got injured, three weeks off in the sun for him, along with a chip on his shoulder that he didn’t make Team USA, might have been better for whatever kind of playoff push the Rangers try to make. Instead he and Trocheck, who could play together on a match-up line for Mike Sullivan, will try to win Gold for Team USA for the first time since 1980.
