What Gerard Gallant said after the win over the Pens

Gerard Gallant met with the media following the win over Pitt and said (MSG, NYR):

  • On the game, “good hockey game. Two good  teams played hard tonight and it was a solid game. Real happy with our whole group tonight.”
  • Are you seeing more of what you want to see, “definitely, for sure. Lines are playing good, everybody is working together and a lot less turnovers, so that is a big aprt of it and we played a big, solid game and so did Pittsburgh.”

  • Do these close games help you for the playoffs, “no, this time of year they are going to be close games, especially when you play teams battling and looking for positioning and looking for the ultimate goal and getting into a playoff spot. When you are playing a team like Pitt and Carolina coming up and Nashville, all those teams are battling, so they are going to good games, tight games and it’s pretty much close to playoff hockey.”
  • On Tyler Motte, “he’s a good kid, played really well the last three games since he came back from injury and gets a big goal for us tonight. When he’s forechecking and putting pressure, that line, they do a real good job.”
  • On not taking a penalty, “it was good, the referees, I thought did an excellent job. I think we had two PPs, overall I didn’t a whole loe of penalties, I thought it was two teams playing good hockey and bearing down.”
  • On Panarin, Zibanejad and Trocheck line, “I thought they were real good tonight, excellent tonight and the chemistry is starting to connect a little bit and Kreids had the winning goal and empty net goal, everybody is chipping in and working hard.”
