Updates from the Rangers on Thursday

1:14PM: Gerard Gallant spoke after practice and said (NYR):

  • Were you concerned Trouba would hear from the Department of Player Safety, “No, I wasn’t really, from what I saw.”
  • What was your view on it, “it was a play in the slot. Obviously, as great a player as Sid is, he does a lot of twisting and turning and spinning away from guys and Trouba went to play the puck and his elbow got up a little high on him but there was no intent. He wasn’t trying to hurt anybody or running people through the glass, that is for sure.”

2022 New York Rangers Playoffs, Jacob Trouba Rangers

Jacob Trouba will not have a hearing for his hit on Sidney Crosby

10:49 AM: Arthue Staple confirms that there will be no suspension or fine for Trouba and that it wasn’t deemed an illegal hit.

He adds that Trouba was playing the puck and “followed through, wasn’t targeting the head or ignoring the puck.”

10:35 AM: Larry Brooks tweets that the Rangers have been notified that there will not be a hearing for Jacob Trouba’s hit on Sidney Crosby last night.

Trouba hit Crosby in the second period last night and Crosby did not return to the game.
