9:18AM: Larry Brooks tweets that with Barron and Robertson being sent to Hartford, the Rangers now have two open spots on their taxi squad and they could assign one forward and one defenseman to the taxi squad on non-game days as a way to save and accumulate cap space.
The players shuffled would likely be Kaapo Kakko, Alexis Lafreniere, Brett Howden, Filip Chytil, K’Andre Miller or Ryan Lindgren.
All other players on the Rangers would need to clear waivers before being sent to the taxi squad.
9:13AM: The Rangers have sent Morgan Barron and Matthew Robertson from their taxi squad to Hartford.
The Rangers now have four players on their taxi squad: Anthony Bitetto, Colin Blackwell, Libor Hajek, and Keith Kinkaid.
Being part of the taxi squad allowed Barron and Robertson to be around the active roster day-to-day.
Robertson could still be sent back to Edmonton of the WHL if that season starts.
The Wolf Pack begin their preseason schedule on 1/31 and the regular season is expected to begin on 2/5.
